Kristen supports students from several departments, including Political Science (including International Studies), History, Religion, Classics (including Greek, Latin, and Greek and Roman Studies), Modern Languages and Cultures (including all languages and studies of specific world regions), Medical Humanities, Museum Studies, and American Studies in addition to working with students who are a part of the Humanities Research Fellows and students receiving BA degrees in Music or BS degrees in Economics. Her goal is to provide her students with the support and resources they need to move on from Baylor into whatever role they are pursuing, be it graduate school, the workforce, or non-profit roles.
Prior to working at Baylor, Kristen was an AP Government, AP Human Geography, Pre-AP World Geography, and Pre-AP English teacher at University High School in Waco ISD for six years. Before that, she received her B.A. as a double major in Political Science and Religion with a concentration in Religious History from Baylor University in 2016. While a student at Baylor, she was a part of Model UN, where she received an award for Outstanding Position Paper at the 2016 Model UN Summit in New York City. She was also involved in Zeta Tau Alpha as Historian, Student Government as Communications Director, Youth Ministry Teams as a Team Leader, Eta Sigma Phi, Baylor Admissions Blogging Team, and Jubilee Theater. She served Baylor as a Community Leader in Collins, a Welcome Week Leader, a Steppin’ Out Volunteer, and an It’s On Us BU Leader.
Kristen is an eighth-generation Texan from Longview in East Texas and loves hiking, camping, photography, tailgating with her husband, and making sure her son grows up to love Baylor as much as she does. She also enjoys attending music festivals, listening to true crime podcasts, and reading. While she grew up in the Piney Woods, she and her husband are putting down their roots here in Waco. She currently serves on the HR team at her church and volunteers with the youth group.
