Alexandra Davis
Apparel Design and Product Development Class of 2019 Design Intern for Brandon Maxwell
Alexandra is a senior Apparel Design and Product Development major who had the opportunity to be a summer design intern for Brandon Maxwell. She started looking for internships as a sophomore, reviewing all of the different opportunities that were out there for her field of interest. Then, when she began her junior year, she knew exactly where to look and when to apply. She was able to work with a designer and a team of others and experience first hand the ins and outs of the fashion industry. She believes that this internship, just as all others, was an incredible opportunity to learn new things that one is not able to learn in the classroom. It takes getting up and going out into the real world, getting experience, and utilizing the skills that you have developed during your time in school in order to further yourself and grow in your abilities. After graduating in December, Alexandra moved to New York City to pursue a career as a fashion designer. She is currently a full-time student pursuing an M.S. in Strategic Design and Management at Parsons University. She also serves as the full-time Brand Management Coordinator of Magnolia Network for Discovery Inc.
“Be willing to accept when something does not go how you want, learn from it, and utilize that to your advantage. Everything that is meant to happen will align, but you have to put yourself outside of your comfort zone in order to grow and gain opportunity.”
